Debt Collection Harassment
In the late 1970s Congress enacted the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act to keep people from being harassed, abused, and mistreated by debt collectors. Still today it happens, debt collectors harass, mistreat, or lie to you. If you’ve been the victim of debt collection harassment, we may be able to help.
Debt collectors know that they can put pressure on you to pay a debt by calling frequently, offering illusory reductions in the amount of a debt, and making threats they can’t and won’t fulfill.
If you have received calls or letters from debt collectors then you need to make a call log and save the letters. Believe it or not, these collection letters can violate the law. Debt collectors fail to provide important notices, make ambiguous statements about the amount of the debt, and attempt to collect uncollectable debt.
Representation in a debt collection harassment case won’t cost you anything and we may be able to make a recovery for you. If you are being harassed by a debt collector give us a call.
